Garstang Natives Volleyball Club hosted a junior match against visiting players from the USA and Canada.

Garstang’s juniors arrived an hour earlier than requested to warm up and tune their skills.

Juniors Tony, Owen, Jack, Lauren, Alicia, George, Scott, Oliver and Andy had been preparing for this match during Friday evening training sessions at Garstang Community Academy.

The visitors, from National Volleyball Camp USA, arrived bringing a squad of 20 girls.

The first game was closely battled, with a win for Garstang of 25-22.

The second game was again evenly matched until Garstang nailed it with a 25-23 win.

A third game was played, with the visitors this time taking a victory of 25-18.

Next, teams were mixed with juniors from Garstang and the USA playing together and two further games were played.

The atmosphere was said to be electric, with all players working incredibly well together with oodles of encouragement.

This was the second year Garstang has hosted this event.

A club spokesperson said: “Our young players have improved in leaps and bounds since joining the club. Our junior section was started approximately 18 months ago. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
